This group of man-made chemicals are resistant to degradation in the environment. They have been linked to a range of health issues, including cancer, hormone disruption, and immune system dysfunction.

All of our FibreGuard collections have been awarded the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification. This certification is a widely recognised certification program that through thorough laboratory testing, either prohibits or tightly controls the use of potentially hazardous substances in textiles. In general, the strict guidelines for residues in textiles not only leads to a reduced environmental impact, but also contribute to improved well-being for both workers and consumers. In many cases, the values set by STANDARD 100 exceed both national and international standards. As a result, the OEKO-TEX® initiative has taken a proactive approach to consumer protection, aiming to set the standard rather than relying solely on legislation.

In summary, FibreGuard’s affiliation with Oeko-Tex is significant because it serves as an indicator of quality, safety, environmental responsibility, and adherence to international standards, all of which are crucial considerations for both manufacturers and consumers.

Key points to note: 

• Fabrics with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification undergo testing for Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions. 

• Additionally, as of 2023, OEKO-TEX® has implemented a general prohibition on the use of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS/PFC) in textiles, leather, and footwear for the STANDARD 100, LEATHER STANDARD, and ECO PASSPORT certifications.
