Surrounded by the rolling hills of central New South Wales and a short drive from Orange is the picturesque Rosedale Farm. Established in 1846, the 3000 acres of pastoral land was an active farm and home to William Dale who built the original homestead in 1877. In 2017, Interior Designer Steve Cordony and partner Michael Booth purchased Rosedale Farm with the vision to revitalise the main residence and surrounding servant quarters into a breath-taking estate. They undoubtedly achieved this vision.

Steve and Michael renewed each building while retaining its unique architectural features that harness the significance of the building, its craftmanship, and place in Australian history. They even recreated on a smaller scale a working farm and built a 1-acre vegetable garden, and home to sheep, two shire horses, belted galloways, chickens, ducks, geese, doves, guinea fowl, white peacocks, a camel, two ostriches, a very stout ‘rescue pig’, and handsome springer spaniel named Bedford. Sustainability is on the estate is also a key focus through various practices and protecting the surrounding environment around the property.

The transformation of this historic building has been considered in great detail, and restored beautifully with a European influence reflecting an Italian country farmhouse. There are three accommodation options on offer for intimate getaways and large gatherings. The extravagant main house or Rosedale Residence accommodates 12 guests in luxury surrounds, including a formal dining room, lounge, library, and fully equipped farm kitchen with wood burning stove all enhanced with lush English gardens. The farm stays are designed for couples and are bright tranquil spaces with elegant accents. Accompanying this refined interior styling is a curated neutral colour scheme, raw materials, exposed wood beams, chevron brick floor tile work and Zepel’s FibreGuard upholstery designs Rocco and Gent.

These stain resistant, durable and versatile fabrics are key designs in the FibreGuard range. They have been carefully selected to reflect the aesthetic qualities of Steve’s vision of creating a nostalgic farmhouse. Rocco and Gent perfectly reflect this sensibility. Gent’s graphic weave on the lounge chairs pairs beautifully with the natural timbers, crushed linens and eclectic accessories to create a multi-dimensional space. Rocco’s chunky, basket weave construction produces a hand loomed, knotted effect providing an appealing raw texture on the bedhead which contrasts beautifully against crisp white linens. This subtle play of textural and neutral colour shifts is incredible to explore and reveals the beauty in controlled styling.
